Cake Batter Rice Krispie Treats

These party-in-your-mouth krispie treats need little explanation.

The only thing better than rice krispie treats? Cake batter rice krispie treats.

The only thing better than Funfetti cake batter rice krispie treats? Chocolate-topped Funfetti cake batter rice krispie treats. With EX-tra rainbow sprinkles.

Sometimes I eat rainbow sprinkles by the spoonful. It’s fine.

Look how the chocolate melts into all the nooks&crannies! Hiiiii.

Cake Batter Rice Krispies (adapted from How Sweet Eats)

Ingredients

  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 10 oz bag of mini marshmallows
  • 1/4 cup Funfetti cake mix (see above “note: a simple truth of life”)
  • 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
  • handful rainbow sprinkles
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Directions

  1. Melt butter and marshmallows in a large saucepan over low heat. Stir in cake mix until combined.
  2. Add cereal and stir until coated. Stir in some sprinkles (add a little, or add a lot!)
  3. Coat a 9×13 pan with cooking spray. Spread in the rice krispie treats.
  4. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the chocolate chips. Spread the melted chocolate evenly over the krispie treats. Top with some more sprinkles. Allow the chocolate to harden, then cut into squares and serve!

    I can’t wait to try them:) I just finished putting the chocolate & sprinkles on top..will the chocolate harden at room temperature? or do I have to put it in the refrigerator?

    I might sound very blonde here but do you mix up the packet cake first and then add it or just add it in flour form?

    I put my rice krispies in a bunt cake pan (spray with pam first) let set for 30 minutes or so them flip on a plate drizzle chocolate over the cake and it looks as good as it taste
